Cub Scouts Learn Photography

I had a blast on Thursday night with my son Connor's Cub Scout Bear Den teaching about photography for their Photography Badge. The boys got to learn how to hold the camera steady, about lighting, and then got to shoot each other in the studio. They then got to see their results right away on our big screen and work with cropping and image correction to make their images look great before printing.

We're happy to announce that Pierre has won Photographer of the Year Silver Level, one of the most prestigious awards presented through the industry's most prominent international photographic competition. Way to go!

Baby Ty is here! - 4/9/09 - 7 lbs 3 oz

This post is long overdue!
Anna and I are thrilled to announce the birth of our son, Ty Viktor Stephenson, born April 9th, 2009 at 6:04 PM. Life has been a little crazy since then, so we are only now getting around to posting pictures. He is doing great and finally starting to sleep more than 2-3 hours a night - yeah!

I love this shot of him shortly after he was born. He was so upset by the process. He kind of looks like the Travelocity Gnome. :)

Easter - Ender's favorite holiday!

It was Ender's first Easter, and he decided he loves it! Apparently, he is not just into egg hunting, but into egg eating as well.

Burke Tavern Burns Down

Last week Thursday Ashley was surprised to come to work and find that our next door neighbor, the Burke Station Tavern, was on fire. Fire fighters from 13 different departments fought the blaze that was discovered at 2 am. Luckily the bartender who discovered the fire was able to warn Ray who lived upstairs, and he, his dog and girlfriend got out safely. Our studio, across the parking lot, was not damaged, but the tavern was a total loss and was completely torn down yesterday.

Our hearts go out to everyone who worked there, and especially our friend Ray who lived upstairs and lost everything but the shirt on his back. We will be putting together donations of clothing and other items to help him get back on his feet. If anyone is interested in contributing feel free to give us a call or stop by.

Baby is due any day now!

As some of you already know Anna and I are expecting a baby boy very soon. Our due date is this Monday, April 6th. We have gotten a lot of requests to see pictures, and have been so busy with getting everything ready for the little guy that we forgot. So, here are some of our maternity pictures that we took a few weeks ago here in the studio, and a couple that our friend and fellow photographer, Dave Watkins, took back in February.

Pierre's will be holding a day long training class for our staff on Sunday, April 26th.

The main purpose of this session is focused education on posing and composition for our photographers, assistants and production crew. Unlike our other workshops, this class is not open to other professionals or the general public, however, we are giving away a seat to one lucky photographer for free - no strings attached. Shannon & Nicholas' Wedding Show

Neither snow, nor rain stops our Wedding Workshop

It seemed like the first part of last summer all over again this past weekend with a lot of rain, snow, sleet and fog to cap off our Wedding Workshop 2009.

20 professional photographers joined Dave Watkins and I for our third weekend long workshop on modern wedding photography. We had a great time teaching everything from posing and lighting to slim and flatter your subject, to cinematic storytelling, and business and marketing strategies for remaining successful in today economy.

Thank you to all of our models Brianna, Ben, and their wedding party, Caitlyn, Heather and Laura. We couldn't have done it without you.

And, the Oscar goes to...

This past weekend was our state WPPA (Wisconsin Professional Photographers Association) convention and print competition. PPA certified judges from across the country came to judge hundreds of prints and albums from photographers and studios all over Wisconsin.

Well, the long and short of things is that Pierre's was awarded a total of 5 merits, a judges choice award, and took home the Wisconsin's Best of Show Award for the Wedding category.

Yay! We're pretty psych'd. :)
